About Me

I’m George Stubbs, a Technical Game Designer with a strong focus on Unreal Engine and hands-on gameplay implementation. I enjoy working at the point where design ideas turn into playable systems, using iteration and testing to refine mechanics and player experience.

During my game design degree, I worked across a wide range of disciplines, including level design, visual scripting, UI, 3D modelling, and basic concept art. While this gave me a broad understanding of the full game development pipeline, it also helped me realise that my strongest interest lies in building and implementing gameplay systems. Having experience across multiple areas allows me to collaborate effectively with both designers and artists, and to design systems that are practical to build and iterate on.

Most of my recent work has focused on prototyping and developing first-person gameplay in Unreal Engine using Blueprints. I’m comfortable taking features from early concepts through to working implementations, debugging issues as they arise, and refining systems based on playtesting and feedback. I enjoy solving design problems hands-on rather than leaving ideas on the page.

My projects often explore atmosphere, tension, and player-driven discovery, with an emphasis on clear mechanics and minimal guidance. This portfolio showcases selected projects and prototypes that reflect my approach to technical game design, as well as my ability to work independently and take ownership of features from start to finish.
